What is DNS propagation and how it affects my website?

Your website is accessible thanks to several DNS servers, located all around the world:

Domain DNS zone propagation is a process of applying changes, related to the domain’s DNS zone, around the world. For your domain to work correctly and stable, all servers should have the same information on them.

Propagation process is fully automatic, you can monitor the process with the DNS Checker: just insert your domain name, choose the DNS record type and click Search:

For different DNS records, the propagation time differs. For NS (nameservers) and A records, the propagation takes up to 24 hours (usually less), as they are main DNS records of your domain. In rare cases, it might take up to 72 hours. Other DNS records usually propagate in a few hours.
